[She blushes furiously at the implications of Rachel's words.]

[Outspoken girls can be quite rare. Rachel's got spunk and Mitsuri finds that adorable, particularly when it's directed at Tomioka, who's the resident loner.]

Did you two wait out the storm here?

[ wouldn't it be great if he really understood what rachel was referring? so, for rachel's comment giyuu will just turn back to look at her with a questioning look. did she think they were friends? because that was what she was referring to and not something else, right?

...which would be fair because mitsuri seems to like everyone. ]

We did. [ there was another but she scurried off with both of giyuu's shirts, apparently. ] It was decided that we were going to look after our camps, right?

[ and when given a job to do, giyuu will follow that job. ]

Mitsuri, then.

[ casually! ignoring giyuu's look! ]

Wait, it was? When did that happen? And how do you plan to do that with the whole "sacrifice" business?

Aw, then all of us could've spent the night together.

[What a missed opportunity. Dimly, she wonders what happened to Tomioka's shirt.]

About that . . . we don't want anyone to be sacrificed. That's why we decided to look after our respective camps.

[ maybe she could wonder outloud about what happened to his shirt, it's not as though he'd hide it. also, enjoy that single concern he vocally expresses which is doubly appreciated when mitsuri explains things for him. now he never has to talk ever again.

And how's that working out for you? Where's the rest of your camp, MItsuri?

I'm fine! I was with Ryuji.

[The concern in both his question and tone of voice moves her thumping heart, only for her to promptly deflate under Rachel's interrogation. Oh, no!]

They're . . . not here.

[Ryuji belongs to a different camp, which leaves her feeling extra embarrassed.]

[ well, ryuji is one of his, so she looked out for one of his, and that's good to know that they were both fine for the night. however, rachel did just point out something very obvious given how she is on her own and...

hm.

giyuu is going to look at rachel for her question. like really? then again, it's probably just an innocent question and nothing that was supposed to be a dig at her. at least, that's what he's going to go with for the moment. ]

Didn't make it back in time, huh? Well, who knows? Maybe they can look after themselves just fine.

[ it was absolutely a dig at her but the moment has passed. so. she meets giyuu's eyes, holding his gaze evenly for a moment before turning back to mitsuri. ]

Is he always like this? What's he got against using his words?

[Her gaze wanders to the rubble. She wants to turn that slab of rock over and hide under it. But her head snaps back to Tomioka and Rachel.

And sweats profusely, because Rachel is carrying on like she didn't just expose a major flaw in Mitsuri's statement earlier and Mitsuri doesn't know what to feel.]

To-Tomioka's a pretty private person. He doesn't talk much, and that's fine!

[ glad to know that they're going to have a mini staring contest while mitsuri wishes to crawl under a rock.

giyuu is not fit to be mitsuri's champion. especially since his response was to have a staring contest that ended with him frowning at rachel in a disapproving manner. (the kids of his camp really were something else.) leave mitsuri alone—! she does her absolute best. ...even if that means she might have forgotten about her camp.

It is when he starts staring instead of saying something.

[ glances pointedly back at giyuu. ]

Anyone else would say it's creepy.

[Listen, she didn't forget. The storm trapped her in the ruins. Who knows where everyone else went? The fact remains, though, that she promised to watch everyone.

Mitsuri looks at Rachel in surprise.]

[She thinks he's cute when he does that.]

[ HE'S RIGHT HERE RACHEL. ]

[ yes, this is exactly when he will speak up. ]

[ flatly: ]

Where I come from, if you stare at people for long periods of time, you're creepy.

[Her cheeks puff out as she tries her hardest to contain the rising snort. Her face trembles from the effort.]

but if that was supposed to get him to start talking then it does not. if anything it makes him just be at a loss for words?? how is he supposed to refute that?? should he refute that?

giyuu does not have the social skills for this.... ]

You know, if you wanted to defend yourself, you're doing a pretty bad job of it.

So, coworkers. What kind of work do you guys do, exactly?

[He doesn't and it's adorable. Meanwhile, Mitsuri regains her bearings enough to answer.]

W-we're demon slayers.

[ closing my eyes.

he doesn't even know how to defend himself in this position!!! and the fact that mitsuri is laughing at him doesn't help but he'll move on from the creepy comment, for now. ]

It's as Kanroji says.

[ excuse me? rachel frowns at them both. ]

Demon slayers? Like, Lucifer demons? Seven circles of hell demons?

[ what?? ]

[She laughs out of love.

At Rachel's query, Mitsuri blinks and angles her head toward Tomioka. It's his turn to talk this time.]

[ giyuu is ill equipped for this, but it's fine. ]

Lucifer?

[ ??? what??? ]

No, not like those demons.

[ he has no idea what "those" demons are even but what he can comfortably say is that there is probably no demon that goes by "Lucifer" and there are no seven circles of hell. ]

[ she waits a moment, maybe two, for more of an explanation. but it never comes, so she continues staring at giyuu expectantly. ]

Okay...? What kind of demons, then?

[Oh, good. Mitsuri is not actually stupid this time if Tomioka doesn't know, either.]

There are all kinds of demons, but all of them subsist on human flesh.

[ here for the added bonus of pleasantness. of course there are Exceptions to these rules but they are not to be counted. ]

And they were once humans but have surrendered their humanity long ago.

Oh, gross. So it's some kind of cannibalism thing?

[Gross is right. She nods.]

They're much faster and stronger than the average human. That's why there are people like us, who train to slay them.

[Rachel seems familiar with demons as a whole, yet in a different way. Now that's curious.]

What are Lucifer demons?

[ there's nothing else he needs to add onto that, plus he's interested in rachel's answer over anything that he could have said.

what kind of demons she's familiar with? are demons consistent across among everyone here? so he'll just be quiet while he listens to her answer. ]
